Goldex Takes on the Inflatable 5km Challenge: A Day of Fun, Fitness, and Fundraising

On 5th October 2024, a group of 20 Goldex team members gathered for an exciting and challenging day out in Haywards Heath to take on the Inflatable 5km Challenge. With the weather pleasantly mild, everyone arrived with a smile, ready to tackle what lay ahead. But before we could dive into the fun, we all gathered to put on our Goldex Foundation t-shirts and snapped a quick group photo to mark the occasion.

Ready, Set, Go!

As the clock ticked down, the excitement was palpable. It was time to start the course! The challenge kicked off with a thrilling climb up giant inflatable stairs, followed by a bouncy descent on the other side. From there, we faced an array of bouncy obstacles—hurdles to bounce over, tunnels to crawl through, and walls to climb. It wasn’t all about speed, but everyone soon realised that this was no ordinary race.

The course itself was 2.5km long, so to complete the full 5km distance, we had to take on the course twice. And with each round, the inflatable obstacles only seemed to get more fun! Whether it was bouncing, sliding, or crawling, there was never a dull moment.

The Race to the Finish

Among the group, one participant took the lead right from the start—Mike Maddison, our Costa manager at Cheriton, was off like a rocket! His speed and determination saw him finish ahead of the rest of us, but the spirit of teamwork meant that everyone was in it for the fun and the cause, not just the competition.

a day well spent

Despite the laughter, sweat, and a fair bit of bouncing around, the day was truly about something bigger: raising money for charity. All funds raised from the challenge went to two wonderful organisations—Demelza and Porchlight—and we were incredibly proud to contribute to their life-changing work.

In the end, we not only earned our well-deserved 5km medals, but we also helped raise a fantastic amount for causes close to our hearts. It was a perfect day out, combining fun, fitness, and philanthropy, and it’s safe to say we’re all looking forward to more team challenges in the future.
